VISITING SPECIALISTS

Advanced Care, Right Here at Ipswich Family Vets

While our experienced veterinary team can handle a wide range of conditions in-house, there are times when your pet may need a specialist’s expertise. Rather than sending you and your pet to another clinic—which can often be stressful, especially for cats and anxious dogs—we bring trusted veterinary specialists directly to our clinic. This means your pet can receive advanced care in a familiar environment, with the team you already know and trust.

Orthopaedic Specialist - Dr Sue Gibbons BVSc FANZCVS

We’re proud to work with Dr Sue Gibbons, a highly respected specialist in small animal surgery. Sue brings decades of experience in advanced orthopaedic procedures and complex surgical cases.

After graduating from the University of Queensland in 1997, Sue completed her residency in Small Animal Surgery at UQ’s Veterinary Teaching Hospital and became a Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists in 2006. She has worked in both Australia and the UK, lectured and mentored veterinarians, and since 2007, has been running a successful mobile surgical service across Brisbane and the Gold Coast.

Her particular interests include orthopaedic surgery and arthroscopy, and we’re fortunate to have her available for our patients when a more specialised approach is needed.

Specialist Ultrasound Services

While our veterinary team is highly skilled in performing and interpreting ultrasounds, there are occasions when a more detailed or complex case calls for additional expertise. That’s why we work with a small group of trusted mobile sonographers, each with advanced training and diagnostic experience.

Depending on your pet’s specific needs, we’ll arrange for the most suitable ultrasound specialist to come to our clinic. This ensures your pet receives the highest standard of diagnostic care—without the added stress of being referred to a different practice.

Collaborative, Compassionate Care

Our visiting specialists are an extension of our team. We coordinate closely with them and with you to ensure your pet receives the very best care, with clear communication and a treatment plan that works for everyone involved.

If your pet needs further investigation or a surgical consult, we’ll guide you through the process every step of the way.
